Located in central Wuhan, the East Lake scenic area is the largest scenic area in the city. Covering an area of 33 square kilometers, five times bigger than that of the West Lake in Hangzhou, the lake is the country's largest urban lake.
The whole park is divided into six areas: the Tingtao Area, the Moshan Area, the Luoyan Area, the Baima Area, the Luohong and the Chuidi Area, each of which has its own unique features. The park is an ideal place to enjoy flower blossoms: Orchids in spring, lotus flowers in summer, osmanthuses in autumn and plum flowers in winter. Visitors could also get into one of the boats located at any dock on the lakeside to make a trip to the Moshan Zoo located on the other bank of the lake.
