Located 50 kilometers (31.07 miles) from the main district of Wuhan, Mulan Mountain is a well-known national level geopark. It was named after Hua Mulan, a legendary figure from ancient China who took her aged father's place in the army and subsequently achieved much glory.
With a history of 1,500 years, Mulan Mountain has seven palaces, eight Taoist temples, 36 halls and thousands of Buddha Statues. It is a famous religious place in both Buddhism and Taoism. There are numerous massive stones in various shapes. Because of an old folklore tale, these stones are cloaked in mystery. The mountain also features the beautiful Heaven Lake and Sheshui River, giving the area a more romantic vibe.
