Founded in 1938, Hunan Normal University is located in Changsha, a famous city with a great historical and cultural background. It has five campuses, covering an area of 168 hectares.
The university now offers 78 undergraduate programs, 14 professional postgraduate programs, 184 master's programs, and 110 Ph.D. programs in its 24 colleges. There are 1,600 faculty members in the university, including an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 880 associate professors or above. Currently, there are more than 31,000 students studying at the university, and more than 300,000 domestic and foreign students have graduated from the university to date.
The university has established cooperative relations with 80 overseas universities. The university jointly established a Confucius School in Kazan with Kazan Federal University of Russia.
