The hookworm resides in the small intestine of its host, which may be a mammal such as a dog, cat or a human. It enters the human body through contaminated water, unclean fruit and vegetables. People who infected with the parasite are mainly located in tropical and subtropical regions. According to the statistics, more than 900 million people in the world have caught the hookworm infection at some point. In China, it still one of the worst parasites in terms of damage to human health. Main symptoms include overall weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea and anemia.
