With 22,000 kilometers of land border and 32,000 kilometers of coastline, China shares borders with Mongolia, Russia, North Korea, India and 10 other countries. The Global Times and Sina.com recently conducted an online poll asking netizens which cities, from a selection of 36, they think are the most important frontier cities in China. The following are the top 10 selected by them.
Dandong, Liaoning
Dandong, located in southeastern Liaoning Province, is on the border between China and North Korea, which is marked by the Yalu River. Covering about 15,222 square kilometers, the city is the largest and one of the most beautiful border cities in China. It's also the only city in Asia with a frontier port, airport, high-speed railway, river port, harbor and highways.
