The Goliath bird-eating spider is the largest spider in the world by body mass and the second largest spider by leg span. According to the Guinness World Records, the world's largest known spider was a male goliath bird-eating spider founded in Rio Cavro, Venezuela in April 1965. It is native to the rain forest regions of northern South America. Despite its name, the Goliath bird-eater doesn’t normally eat birds. Their usual preys are crickets, beetles, millipede and mice.
