Despite the lingering global financial crisis, the number of US dollar billionaires in China increased to 271 in 2011, up from 189 last year and more than double the number in 2009, 130, according to the Hurun Rich List 2011. The average worth of the top 1,000 wealthiest Chinese was US$923 million, 20 percent greater than that of last year and 51 percent higher than the year before last.
According to the Hurun list, Beijing is increasingly a prime location for the wealthiest Chinese to live in and to headquarter their businesses in. 113 people worth more than 2 billion yuan on the Hurun list headquarter their businesses in Beijing, 22 more than that of last year.

Huang Rulun also serves as the vice president of China General Chamber of Commerce. He also has made many contributions to charities and is regularly listed on top philanthropy lists in China.
