Westerners are genetically programmed to drink more alcohol and eat unhealthy foods than those in the Eastern hemisphere, according to a recent study, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Scientists at Aberdeen University discovered that those of European origin are more likely to have genes urging them to gorge on fatty foods, beer and wine, than Asians.
Researcher Dr. Alasdair MacKenzie explained that there's a genetic switch controlling appetite and thirst and, if turned on too strong, makes people crave fatty foods and alcohol. The switch is weaker in Asians, suggesting they are less inclined to consume unhealthy items. .(點(diǎn)擊《每日電訊報(bào)》查看原文)
