As the green envoy chosen by Oxfam Hong Kong, Xiao Xin, 24, went to Copenhagen for the 12-day United Nations Climate Change Conference. Here is her latest blog.
Yesterday I found a comment from one of my friends, left below my photo, "absence of China," saying: "Xin, you are the voice of China." I was so touched that it made my eyes redden. Before visiting this venue promoting COP15, I never had the opportunity to realize that me and my country are so closely related. I felt I should do something for my motherland.
During the public campaign today, many people invited me to have a picture with them; Rully was surprised and asked "Everyone wears the same life buoy, why do they want to have a photo with you?"
Ugh…it was weird indeed…but I’m glad that they were interested in me because I had the opportunity of telling them all about problems of the poor.
In this packed assembly people unconsciously extended themselves and maximized their energy. This power which I experienced filled my body and I felt that I had become strong and aspiring.
