China Mobile Limited and Vodafone Group Plc signed a Strategic Co-operation Framework Agreement in Barcelona Tuesday.
Wang Jianzhou, the Chairman of China Mobile and Vittorio Colao, the Chief Executive of Vodafone Group Plc signed the agreement at the China Mobile-Vodafone Strategic Co-Operation/CEO Forum which took place during the celebration of the Mobile World Congress this week in Barcelona.
The agreement means that the two telecommunications giants will continue to cooperate in various areas of their business, including exchanges in corporate management and also in technical and operational expertise.
They will also work together in areas such as Enhanced Roaming Services; Multinational Customers; Green Technology; Network Roadmap Management, Joint Innovation and Research and Development.
They will also promote converged LTE technology and LTE terminal development as the industry moves towards 4G as the next step in mobile broadband.
Both companies hope to be able to improve their competitiveness and raise their influence on international organization, value chain and industry by partnership in management, technology and operation.
Wang also witnessed the launch of the Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) in Barcelona on Monday.
The GTI aims to promote the deployment of TD-LTE networks as a standard 4G mobile technology throughout the World.
"The motto of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was 'One-World, One Dream', I am convinced that with convergence and compatible systems, our dream will come true in the 4G era," said Wang, adding the agreement with Vodafone is another step towards convergence and unit.
