China Mobile says Apple to support TD-LTE

Apple products will fully support China Mobile's next generation technology TD-LTE, China's home-grown 4G technology, China Mobile Chairman Wang Jianzhou said at the World Economic Forum at Davos.
The world's largest mobile carrier based on numbers of subscribers had been in negotiations with Apple since 2007 about the introduction of an iPhone that operates on TD-SCDMA, a 3G technology developed by China Mobile.
Wang said two companies will definitely find a way to cooperate that both can accept. That means Apple will support TD-LTE rather than TD-SCDMA.
Currently China Mobile's rival China Unicom is Apple's only Chinese partner. As Apple recently announced it will launch a CDMA iPhone in the US market next month, China's third largest mobile carrier China Telecom, which uses CDMA technology, is actively seeking a partnership with Apple.
Apple COO Tim Cook revealed in a teleconference that the company's revenues from China totaled $2.6 billion in the Christmas quarter, four times the level of a year ago. Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer added that Apple's China stores were showing excellent performance in terms of the number of customers and revenue.
