Myanmar government has donated cash as humanitarian assistance through the Japanese embassy here to the victims of the recent massive earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern parts of Japan, the official daily New Light of Myanmar reported Friday.
The donation of 100,000 U.S. dollars was handed over by Myanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan Win to Japanese Ambassador Takashi Saito on Thursday.
U Nyan Win conveyed sympathy to the Japanese side on behalf of the Myanmar government, the report said.
Both Myanmar Prime Minister U Thein Sein and Foreign Minister U Nyan Win had sent messages of sympathy to their respective Japanese counterparts over the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, expressing sympathy over the loss of life and property caused by the natural disaster.
