Tokyo stocks ended 0.01 percent higher on Wednesday amid easing concerns over Syria.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average closed up 1.71 points, or 0. 01 percent, from Tuesday at 14,425.07.
In contrast, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 0.97 point, or 0.08 percent, at 1,189.25.
Gainers were led by consumer finance, utilities and machinery companies while decliners included mining, warehouse and sea transport issues.
