Moscow expects to resume dialogue with Washington after Donald Trump's victory in the recent presidential election, local media reported citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Friday.
"There is ... modest hope that at least some low-level dialogue will resume, because it simply does not exist now," Peskov said, adding however that Moscow will not view the situation through "rose-colored glasses."
Peskov explained that making statements during an election campaign is one thing, but once a person enters the Oval Office, everything can change.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that changes in bilateral relations could happen, and this will also depend on the officials that the elected U.S. president appoints to his administration.
Trump, who previously held the U.S. presidency from 2017 to 2021, won the 2024 presidential race, defeating Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris.
