Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said that China's vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) provide important inspiration and useful reference for a world of peace and stability.
"All countries should work together in promoting world peace since our planet has become a village and mankind shares the same future as a community," Prachanda said during his visit to China ahead of the commemorative event for the International Day of Peace 2018.
He stressed that China has made tremendous contributions to the maintenance of world peace and regional stability.
"Building on the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, the BRI put forward by China not only promotes economic development but also heralds new opportunities for countries pursuing peace and stability," said Prachanda.
Prachanda also noted the positive role media, think tanks and NGOs play in upholding peace and stability. "I believe that all parties share important responsibilities for global peace, stability and prosperity. While the governments play a decisive role, media, think tanks and NGOs make distinctive contributions," he said.
China and Nepal are good neighbors and partners. In recent years, the two countries delivered encouraging results on economic cooperation, people-to-people exchange and infrastructure connectivity.
According to Prachanda, China will soon begin a cross-border Sino-Nepali railway project, which after completion, will further boost economic development, promoting peace and stability in Nepal.
Prachanda is now visiting China to attend the commemorative event for the International Day of Peace 2018. During the three-day event, a series of activities will be held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu province from Sept. 18 to Sept. 20, including two forums on peace and security, a thematic commemorative ceremony, and a symphony concert.
