Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli on Thursday met with Bernal Jimenez, president of Costa Rica's National Liberation Party (NLP).
Zhang reviewed the rapid growth of China-Costa Rica relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 2007, citing frequent high-level exchanges, strengthened political trust and fruitful cooperation in multiple fields.
Zhang said China would like to work with Costa Rica to substantiate bilateral cooperation and promote the growth of bilateral relations.
Zhang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the CPC has placed importance on developing friendly ties with the NLP and would like to consolidate party-to-party exchanges and cooperation.
Jimenez spoke highly of the solid progress that has been made in Costa Rica-China relations since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.
He called for stronger party-to-party exchanges and cooperation in order to boost overall relations.
Jimenez and his delegation are also scheduled to travel to Shanghai and Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
