China attaches great importance to the development of a strategic partnership with Mexico, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Wednesday.
Qiang Wei, member of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Francisco Arroyo Vieyra, president of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico.
Bilateral ties have achieved considerable progress since China and Mexico established diplomatic relations more than 40 years ago, Qiang said, adding that this year also marks the 10th anniversary of the two countries' strategic partnership.
China is ready to work with Mexico to enrich their strategic partnership to promote the sustained and stable development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, he said.
Arroyo Vieyra said Mexico has consistently adhered to the one-China policy and respected China's political system and development path, stressing that the two sides share broad consensus on major international issues and bilateral relations.
He believed that the good political relations between Mexico and China will surely promote continuous development of pragmatic cooperation in various fields.
A delegation headed by Qiang arrived here Monday at the invitation of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party of Mexico.
