China is ready to continue to promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of its strategic partnership with Mexico, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei on Monday.
Expressing China's congratulations to Mexico's new president, Enrique Pena Nieto, who was sworn in on Saturday for a six-year term, Hong told a regular press briefing that China always attaches great importance to friendly and cooperative ties with Mexico.
China is ready to work with Mexico to continue to promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of two countries' strategic partnership, so as to benefit the two countries and two peoples, Hong said.
Lu Yongxiang, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, attended the inauguration ceremony as President Hu Jintao's special envoy and met with Pena Nieto on Saturday. Lu also conveyed President Hu and Premier Wen Jiabao's warm congratulations and best wishes to Pena Nieto.
