Wang Zhaoguo, chairman of the All China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), on Wednesday met with President of the Belgian Christian Trade Union Confederation (CSC) Luc Cortebeeck.
Wang reviewed the smooth growth of the four-decade diplomatic relationship between China and Belgium, characterizing it as a paradigm of how countries of different systems should seek friendly cooperation.
He said the ACFTU-CSC relations had withstood the test of time.
As the largest trade union in the world, the ACFTU now has about 240 million members while the CSC is the biggest trade union in Belgium with 1.7 million members.
"Your visit to China will help deepen understanding and friendship between the two trade unions," Wang said.
Wang said the ACFTU would also like to work more closely with the CSC in international labor organizations.
Cortebeeck, who is on his second visit to China, said the two unions had worked well bilaterally and multilaterally.
Cortebeeck proposed the two trade unions learn from each other and make joint efforts to safeguard the rights of workers worldwide.
Wang briefed Cortebeeck on China's laws that protect workers' rights and the ACFTU's role.
During the five-day visit, Cortebeeck and his delegation will also travel to northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
