South Korean military will conduct a new round of marine gunnery exercises in 27 sites around the country from Monday to Friday, Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed on Sunday.
Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration (KHOA) has released a navigation warning on its website to warn all civilian vessels to keep a sharp lookout and avoid the 27 areas designated for the drills.
According to local media, no drills are scheduled near the five islands in tense waters off the west coast just south of the contentious sea border called Northern Limit Line (NLL).
Seoul just conducted live-fire drills last week, which came after Seoul and Washington wrapped up massive joint naval drills in the Yellow Sea.
