Top Chinese political advisor meets Indian President

Top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin met with Indian President Pratibha Patil?in Beijing?on Friday, pledging to further cooperation and exchange between the two neighbors.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), hailed Sino-Indian ties at the beginning of the 40-minute meeting at the Great Hall of the People.
He proposed that the two sides bolster exchange between the nations' youths, promote mutually beneficial cooperation and realize common development so as to contribute to the peace, stability and prosperity of Asia and the world.
Jia also suggested to enhance exchange between the CPPCC and India's parliament as part of their efforts to push forward state-to-state relations.
Patil, who is here on a state visit to China, said the India-China strategic partnership and the two countries' common vision of the future serve as the foundation for bilateral ties.
India recognizes the Tibet Autonomous Region as part of the territory of the People's Republic of China and will not allow any Tibetans to carry out anti-China political activities in Indian territory, she said.
Patil arrived here Wednesday for the week-long visit, which is the first visit to China by an Indian head of state in the last decade.
Following her stay in Beijing, Patil is scheduled to visit the World Expo in Shanghai and the White Horse Temple, a famous Buddhist temple in Luoyang of central China's Henan Province.
