Icelandair on Wednesday resumed most flights to the rest of Europe after a seven-day ban triggered by ash clouds spewed from an Icelandic volcano.
Reports from Iceland said Icelandair was to fly to London's Heathrow airport Wednesday afternoon from the Keflavik airport near Reykjavik.
Some flights may be delayed but air traffic was expected to return to normal again soon, especially after the resumption of flights from Iceland to Heathrow, the electronic newspaper Iceland Review reported. All domestic flights in Iceland were on schedule Wednesday.
By the end of Wednesday, more than 100,000 flights in total would have been canceled since April 15, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, or Eurocontrol, said.
