On January 1, an ambulance carrying a sick infant was stuck in traffic heading to a hospital in Suining, southwest China's Sichuan Province. The newborn baby had to be transferred to the Suining City Central Hospital 50 kilometers away because of a lack of oxygen. However, the tunnel was very congested on New Year's Day. Thankfully, the kindness of drivers won through. Surveillance cameras showed dozens of cars slow down and pull over, leaving a narrow passage for the ambulance to go through. The ambulance then passed through the tunnel in seven minutes, rather than the 30 minutes such a journey can take in peak times. The sick infant is presently hospitalized, but in a stable condition thanks to the "path of life" created by those kind drivers.
