Shandong Luneng moved above Beijing Guoan into second place with a three nil victory as Wagner love scored a hattrick in a surprisingly one sided away win.
The visitors Shandong took the lead in the ninth minute when Brazilian import and former Flamengo player, Vagner Love, volleyed home from close-range after being set up by a Han Peng header. Although the attack was controversial when Shandong's midfielder Walter Montillo receiced the ball from the offside spot according to the replay, the score still changed to 1-nil.
And the home side Beijing suffered an early set back in the 17th minute when their key midfielder, Joffre Guerron, was shown a straight red card for a charge on Shandong's defender Dai Lin. It was the hard defence of Dai that drove the Ecuadorian mad. And the irrational action of Guerron may bring his extra suspension.
With one goal lead and one more man, Shandong dominated the exchanges thereafter and doubled the lead soon after the hour mark. Zhao Mingjian crossed from the left and Love escaped his marker, Xu Yunlong, to score with a cool finish.
The Brazilian then secured his hat-trick by chipping over the Beijing’s keeper Yang Zhi. The 3-0 victory lifts Shandong to second spot in the standings with 16 points while Beijing remain on 15 points. Another match saw leaders Guangzhou Evergrande expanded their lead to 18 points with 2-1 win over Shanghai Shenhua.
"It was a good match. Both sides made a good performance on the field. We managed to get a perfect start. Then we kept fighting. And Beijing lost one player due to the red card. I cannot understand that player's action," Shandong Luneng's coach Cuca said.
"First of all, what Guerron did was not good. But Shandong's defender fouled two or three times when Guerron controlled the ball. If the referee's whisle blew after the first foul, then there would not be a second. I still can't understand why the referee would ignore the constant fouling. And the referee also ignored the offside of Shandong. So I can't understand that," Beijing Guoan's coach Gregorio Manzano said.
