Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem has reiterated his country's pledge to eradicate its chemical arsenal. According to Syria’s official news agency SANA, al-Moallem made the remarks on Thursday during his meeting with Sigrid Kaag, who heads the joint mission for the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons stockpile.
The talks were held a day after the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons announced that a fourth shipment of chemical weapons had been shipped out of Syria. Al-Moallem stressed Syria will fulfil its pledges with the OPCW, but said security conditions in the country must be taken into consideration.
Kaag hailed the progress achieved so far, stressing that her crew was determined to make the mission a success.
