The President of motor racing's governing body visited Michael Schumacher at the hospital in Grenoble, France, on Thursday morning. The former racing driver remains in an induced coma, following a serious skiing accident in the French Alps. FIA (International Automobile Federation) President Jean Todt met doctors treating Schumacher whose condition is reportedly stable but still critical.
Schumacher, who turns 45 on Friday, suffered critical head injuries when he fell and struck a rock while skiing Sunday morning during a family holiday in Meribel.
The seven-time Formula 1 champion has since undergone two brain operations and remains in a medically induced coma.
Doctors have refused to give a prognosis, saying they are focused on his immediate care.
They are trying to reduce swelling in his brain by keeping him in a coma and lowering his body temperature.
Schumacher is the most successful Formula 1 driver in history, racking up a record 91 race wins. He retired from Formula One in 2012 after garnering an unmatched seven world titles.
