Feng Shanshan won the season ending LPGA Titleholders tournament in Florida, picking up the first-place prize of 7 hundred thousand US dollars. She came from two shots behind on the final day with one of the best closing rounds to win by one shot.
Feng Shanshan did well with her approach on the 3rd hole. She opened with four birdies in six holes to go from two shots down to take outright lead. Inbee Park was determined to stay close. Her birdie on the 10th hole brought her to 10-under par. Sun Young Yoo was also in fine form on the greens, and her birdie on the 14th hole put her at 11-under par.
But They were all chasing Feng, and with her birdie on the 6th hole, Feng stood at 13-under. Gerina Piller made birdie on the 13th hole to move to within one shot of Feng at 12-under.
The key shot of the day was played by Feng on the 15th hole, where she made birdie to grab a 2-shot edge at 14-under par. Piller kept up her pursuit and with her birdie on the 15th, she was now at 13-under par.
On the 18th hole, Piller needed to make birdie to grab a share of the lead and force a playoff, but her effort missed right and that meant Feng was the winner. Piller had to settle for a 69 still her best finish on the LPGA Tour.
Feng played the final 31 holes without a bogey. It’s the 24 year old third victory of the season, and second in two months.
