Crowds have streamed into Mexico City's Museum of Anthropology for the "Maya: Space and Time" exhibition.

Hundreds of ancient Mayan artifacts are on display in the country’s capital, among which is an ancient stone tablet of the Maya calendar.

Following an extensive world tour, the exhibition returns in time for December 21, 2012, the date at which the Mayan lunar calendar comes to the end of a 5,126-year cycle and resets for a new cycle.
