Super storm Sandy has made landfall along the coast of the US state of New Jersey. Sandy has sustained winds of 129 kilometers an hour. It's weakened to a post-tropical cyclone, but still packs hurricane-force winds.

More than 2 million customers were left without power by early Monday evening and more than a million people were subject to evacuation orders. Many communities were swamped by flood waters. Sandy is expected to move on to New York City, Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia.
