The outbreak of diseases is threatening flooded areas. The Chinese Ministry of Health has issued an emergency notice, asking local authorities to make all-out efforts to monitor food, drinking water and hygiene to prevent the outbreak of water and food-borne diseases.
Feng Zijian, Director, Emergency Office, CDC & prevention said:"One is due to the change of conditions of drinking water and food, which caused an increase in infectious diseases.
Meanwhile, the affected people are living in crowded areas, which can also cause the spread of respiratory diseases. Flood victims should pay attention to their personal hygiene and if they contract diarrhoea, fever and coughing, they should see a doctor immediately. They also should make sure their drinking water and food are clean."
