Iran says it hopes the international community will officially acknowledge its "nuclear rights for peaceful purposes". The statement was made as the second round of technical talks on Iran’s nuclear program began Tuesday.
The talks between Iran and world powers are taking place in Istanbul, Turkey. Iran has indicated that if successful, the talks could pave the way for yet another round of high-level talks between top nuclear negotiators from Iran and the five members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. Three rounds of nuclear talks earlier this year failed to produce a breakthrough. The EU, US and other nations suspect Iran’s nuclear program is aimed at developing atomic weapons. Iran denies this.
