A total of 95 people have died and another 45 are missing, amid torrential rain that's been sweeping across parts of China since July 20th.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs says over 6 million people in 17 provincial areas have been affected by natural disasters caused by heavy rains. More than 500,000 have had to be evacuated. The storms destroyed 29,000 houses and caused severe damage to another 55,000.
National disaster relief and civil affairs authorities initiated a fourth-grade emergency response, sending teams to the worst-affected parts of Beijing and Hebei province on Sunday. The Ministry of Civil Affairs says natural disasters have left 680 people dead this year, while 137 are still missing.
