Chinese President Hu Jintao has arrived in Denmark for a state visit. Being the first Chinese head of state to visit the Nordic country since the two countries established diplomatic ties 62 years ago, Hu said the two sides will work to lift ties to a new level.
Danish Queen Margrethe II and members of the royal family greeted President Hu at the Kastrup International Airport. Noting that China and Denmark established their comprehensive strategic partnership in 2008, Hu said the two countries have now seen frequent exchanges between the leaders, robust growth in trade and fruitful cooperation in many fields.
The Chinese president said he will have in-depth discussions with Danish leaders on strengthening cooperation and other issues of common interest. For his part, the Danish Prime Minister called Hu’s trip a "historic visit". President Hu’s tour is also expected to show positive support to Europe’s efforts in combating its debt crisis.
