China's Jiaolong deep-sea submersible has arrived at the test-site to prepare for its 7,000 meters dive attempt.
Jiaolong has already undergone internal power checks ahead of the big dive, which is set to take place within the next few days. This 13 metres high crane will be used to retrieve the submersible after the dive.
Technicians are currently conducting final checks on the crane to ensure the mission can be completed safely. Yu Jianxun, Deputy chief commander of Jiaolong Mission says, "This crane is equipped with advanced technology. It can retrieve the submersible, even under severe conditions. Other equipment is also ready for Jiaolong's dive."
