The SAG Awards have been one of the major award events in Hollywood since 1995. And when the statuettes were handed out on Monday, much of the excitement came before the event -- on the red carpet.

SAG winner Viola Davis wore a Grecian silk chiffon Marchesa gown with antique gold detailing.
Also wearing Marchesa was Colombian bombshell Sofia Vergara, in a magenta strapless fitted mermaid gown.
George Clooney's arm candy, Stacy Kiebler, was another fan - with a black lace fishtail number.
Global fashionista Angelina Jolie kept her look simple in a beautifully black draped gown by one of her favorite designers.

Angelina Jolie said, "It's Jenny Packham and I always liked vintage jewelry, I don't often wear it and I liked these pieces when I saw them."
SAG nominee Glenn Close also chose to go with black.
SAG nominee Julianna Margulies wore a designer she had been longing to wear for a while - a fitted floral Calvin Klein gown.
