The acrobatic "Swan Lake" |
The acrobatic version of Tchaikovsky's ballet "Swan Lake" has taken China by storm since its premiere in 2005.
The show, presented by artists from the Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe has toured around the world playing to critical acclaim. Now the performance team has gone full circle and come home to China.
The show is highlighted by several complex dances in which one artist, who portrays White Swan, needs to jump onto the prince's body and dances on point atop his shoulder and head.
The intriguing scenarios also include the famous dance of the four swans, in which the little swans are transformed into four frogs portrayed by men who complete the entire piece on their arms only.
The acrobatic "Swan Lake" makes a bold attempt to re-interpret and re-invent the greatest classical ballet of all time by combing the eastern and western art forms.
"Swan Lake" runs at the Beijing Exhibition Center Theater from Thursday to Sunday.
