Kermit the frog is back on the big screen and this time he's teaming up with Jason Segel, Amy Adams, newcomer Muppet Walter plus the rest of the Muppet gang. And there's more animated fun in theaters this season for your family.

It's been 12 years since the last Muppet movie, however it's been 35 years since "The Muppet Show" began in 1976.

Early Muppet appearances date back to the mid-1950s, when a primitive version of Kermit the Frog began the American sensation by appearing on "Afternoon, Footlight Theatre" and "Sam and Friends" in 1955.

Ranging in age from 8 to 80, Muppet fans span the globe. So it makes sense that Disney's "The Muppets" was ignited by a Muppet fan, comedian Jason Segel.

Jason Segel, actor, said, "Yeah well to me the Muppets are sort of where you start as a comedian. It leads to Monty Python and Saturday Night Live. It just seemed crazy to me that there hasn't been a Muppet movie in twelve years and we had to bring them back for the new generation."

For more family fun, look for Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas in their latest film "Puss in Boots." The actors visited Mexico City on Tuesday to promote animated feature.

The character of Puss in Boots, made famous by Banderas in the "Shrek" film franchise, has stepped into the spotlight with his very own film, joined by sultry love interest, Kitty Softpaws, played by Salma Hayek.

In this film, Puss finds himself in partnership with his nemesis, Humpty Dumpty, voiced by "Hangover" star Zach Galifianakis, as they go on the hunt for the legendary magic beans and the golden goose on top of the beanstalk, overcoming obstacles from southern villains Jack and Jill.

In its first two weekends, "Puss" has made a handsome 114.5 million US dollars in total box office worldwide sales.
