China’s International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo has just wrapped up in Beijing after a 5-day run. Julian Waghann reports on the feast of art performance at Wednesday’s opening ceremony, and what was new and interesting on offer.
The audience at the Great Hall of the People was treated to a feast of entertainment. Most of the shows presented were designed to echo the theme of this year’s expo.
She Yungao, Deputy Director of ICCIE Organizing COMM. Office, said "This year’s expo’s theme of "Combining Culture and Technology, Driving Development with Innovation is particularly obvious."
The main exhibition venue of the expo is at China International Exhibition Center. Walking into it, visitors might have been dazzled by the enormous choices on offer and could not wait to see the colorful and beautiful art works for themselves.
Not matter whether it's a cloth with paintings to show traditional Chinese culture, or a tiny tea pot and cup, each item shows visitors their own unique characteristics by integrating cultural elements into everyday life, while keeping the traditions alive.
A visitor said "Many things are totally new to me. I have never seen them before. Meanwhile, I see some missing traditional handicrafts again and know that there are still many people who are doing these kinds of handicrafts. I feel so happy and at ease that the traditional skills inherited from our ancestors are still developing and being preserved well."
Many visitors'attention was drawn to a stall with a painting, which easily reminds visitors of their previous happy time at a zoo.
This calligraphy and this beautiful painting right here can actually help you see better at night. This technology here has turned the industrial solar panel into exquisite works of art that can be placed on the desktop or used as window panel. By bridging technological innovation with cultural creativities, the expo is helping bring technology close to life and to every inch of life.
The owner of this stall, tells our reporter about his dream…saying this may be the dreams of many exhibitors who are attending the expo.
Jeff Lim, CEO of Life-Renewable Company, said " My purpose is to let the beauty and innovation have a perfect integration."
The products of Jeff Lim’s company are environmentally-friendly, using clean solar energy. But the company is not the only one to promote this environmentally-friendly concept. This concept is encouraged by many exhibitors…Examples are many… These cute pocket chopsticks, forks and spoons are made to encourage people use their own tableware instead of the disposable ones… Part of this trendy sandal is made of pop-top rings without losing style…Some design competition awards are showing surprising but useful items…such as this pair of shoes with variety of combinations and uses…
Without doubt, this year's Expo has brought visitors a lot of cultural and creative products to explore… Another good time of cultural glory is yet to come for China and the world.
