Mount Qomolangma, known in the West as Everest, stands 8,848 meters above sea level. It's being celebrated with some of the most distinctive cultures and arts in the world. And it's all taking place at the ninth Qomolangma Culture and Tourism Festival in Shigatse, in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Nearly 3000 artists from 18 Tibetan counties and cities opened the festival with a lavish performance. State Intangible Culture Heritages and the heritage items of the Tibetan Autonomous Region were presented, including traditional folk dances originating in Saga and Lhaze counties, as well as the renowned Tibetan Opera from Rinpung County.
Apart from the lively arts, an exhibition will introduce the region's wealth of intangible culture heritages.
Initiated in 2001, the annual event has won accolades for preserving the authentic Tibetan culture and enhancing its influence.
