The Flying Goddess Awards, China's official recognition for the country's outstanding TV programs, announced its winners in Beijing on Tuesday. Now in its 28th year, this time around a total of 161 eligible shows have joined the competition.

After three rounds of selections, 42 entries have made it to the final round of the grueling competition and garnered prizes in different categories.
In the TV series category, first prize is shared by "Liberation," "The Beautiful Era of a Daughter in Law" and "Who's to Call the Shots of My Youth."
In other categories, "Ma Xiaotiao the Naughty" secured second prize for Most Popular Children's TV Shows. "Men in the Mountains" was also recognized as a second prize winner for an Opera TV Series. Top prizes in both categories remained vacant.
The Flying Goddess Awards honors artists and productions seen on China's small screen. The event began soaring with the country's TV stars in 1981, and starting from 2005 the annual competition became a biennial event.
