Ancient Chinese scholars hail the lotus blossom as "the lady of all flowers." It's a well deserved description because she grows in the mud, yet emerges pure and unblemished in the summer sun.
Lotus: the lady of all flowers |
So, let's take in some of that beauty by traveling around the country to some places known for their lotus blossoms.
At Huanggai Lake in Central China's Hubei Province, the lotus spreads its grace and beauty over more than 10 million square meters.
In Jiaozuo of Central China's Henan Province, the lotus flowers sparkle with the water droplets from a recent rain, giving visitors a heavenly view.
At the Wolong Lake Natural Scenic Resort in Northeast Liaoning Province, the wild lotus provides the perfect playground for birds in the area.
And lastly, some you can appreciate without going near a lake. At Dong An Market in Beijing, there's a lotus exhibition that includes reeds, a fishing boat and even osprey. The display shows visitors a typical scene in places where plenty of lotus flowers bloom.
The exhibition will concludes on Friday.
