The 31st edition of Sao Paulo Fashion Week kicked off on Monday as Brazil's top designers showcased their upcoming spring/summer collections. Hundreds of fashionists gathered to watch supermodels hit the catwalks and present trends for the next season.
Label Tufi Duek was the first to stage its parade on the opening day of Brazil's largest fashion event.
Models with black smokey eyes paraded up and down donning short dresses covered in geometric prints and cuts, mostly in black and white, but with splashes of orange and green. All the fabrics were environmentally friendly and made of recyclable materials.
Brand Animale also showed on the first night of the bi-annual event, bringing indigenous and tribal references to the runway.
Inspired by the southern region of France, designer Priscilla Darolt delivered a fresh and chic summer collection. Light fabrics and transparencies dominated most of the flowy outfits that appeared in shades of white, gray and blue, referencing the seaside region of Cote d'Azur.
Glittery garments, low-cut dresses and cropped shirts added the right dose of sexiness to the romantic and breezy creations that included several loose skirts and wide leg pants.
Thirty-one Brazilian designers will present their upcoming collections until Saturday, when Sao Paulo Fashion Week closes.
