Taiwan health authorities overhauled five categories of beverages on Tuesday while demanding drink producers provide food safety certificates.
Every beverage brand on the shelf must have a safety certificate.
Ingredients shown on the packaging must fit the bill.
A products must be tagged if it contains emulsifiers.
Inspector, Taiwan, said, "We check beverages one by one. But there's no tag on any product. The dealers can not pinpoint the defective beverages in their reports. "
Vendors say they need more time to check the products.
Vendor, Taipei, said, "There are too many products to check. So we need some time to wait for the results. Beverages are under inspection now, we have to wait."
Producers and dealers were asked to provide safety certificates as soon as possible.
Any drink companies who fail to provide or falsify supporting documents will be penalized.
Drinks contaminated with industrial plastics have been pulled off shelves.
Taiwan has been rocked by the scandal, since industrial plastic was found in sports drinks last Friday.
The Taiwan health department is encouraging people to support the inspection.
Qiu Wenda, Official of Taiwan Healthy Department, said, "Too many people are affected by the scandal. We must encourage society to work together on food safety issues."
The issue is worsening and widening.
In Zhanghua, in the central part of Taiwan, cosmetics have also been reportedly contaminated by toxic chemicals.
Zhanghua health officials are inspecting nail polish and perfume samples. Producers with contaminated products will be penalized up to 1.5 million New Taiwan dollars.
