There is an old saying that it's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll. That's the case for one girl pursuing her music dream in Beijing. Many commuters are familiar with the budding musician, who performs daily at a crowded downtown underpass in Beijing.
Nineteen-year-old Li Huimin left home in central China's Henan Province for Beijing with her guitar among few possessions.
Her love affair with music began at an early age.
She performs daily at the underpass in Xidan, one of Beijing's busiest commercial districts.
Her day begins early each morning by practicing guitar.
Calluses have hardened her once soft fingers after years of devoted guitar playing.
Li Huimin, Musician, said, "I am strong enough to bear the pain. I won't give up playing guitar because of this."
Huimin now lives with her father and brother in Beijing.
Every morning, she cooks a hearty breakfast to give her energy for the day's performance.
