A new version of novel-adopted movie 'A Chinese Ghost Story' will be released on April 19, 2011.
Compared to earlier versions of the film, director Wilson Yip said his movie would incorporate contemporary elements that he believes are more suitable for modern-day society.
The original story written by 17th-century Chinese author Pu Songling is a love story between a tax collector, Ning Caichen, and a ghost named Nie Xiaoqian. It has already been made into films many times before, with the most famous being a version produced by Hong Kong director Tsui Hark, starring superstars Leslie Cheung and Joey Wong.
