The violence in Pakistan continues to escalate after a teen suicide bomber, dressed in a school uniform, attacked soldiers Thursday during morning exercises at an army training camp in Mardan, northeast of Peshawar. The incident killed 27 troops and wounded 40 others.
It is one of the worst attacks on security forces in recent months. The Pakistani military restricts access to bases, but video from the scene shows security personnel and rescue workers, and ambulances taking the wounded to the nearby Combined Military Hospital.
No militant group is claiming responsibility yet, though the Pakistani Taliban have staged such attacks in the past. The violence shows that despite years of army operations against their hideouts along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, the Taliban and al-Qaida-linked fighters retain the ability to strike back.
