Tuesday is the last day of the Spring Festival holiday. People who went home are spending the day travelling back to the cities they work in. As the New Year gets underway, they hope for a healthy and successful year.
Yuan Tingting has studied and worked in Beijing for almost 10 years. She's returned home every Spring Festival. For her, it's the most important time to see her family in Dalian, a city in north-east Liaoning province.
Yuan said, "I spend 10 days with my family at home. It's a really busy holiday. I've seen my grandparents and relatives, and had a party with classmates."
Yuan told us she's happy when she sees her parents and grandparents in good health, and she can go back to Beijing without having to worry too much about them.
CCTV reporter Xue Jingmeng said, "Peak time for returning to work has come along. The airport is much busier than the ealier days of Spring Festival. For most travellers, the relaxed or busy holidays have passed, as they're all on their way back from home or tourist places. A hopeful phase of the New Year is waiting for everyone."
Yuan feels sad when she leaves home as she's far away from her parents, who are getting older. Back in Beijing where she lives alone, she calls her parents every couple of days to find out how they are. She's always sent back to the capital with a big bag of food from her hometown. Her mom's dumplings are Yuan's favourite.
Yuan said, "I have a lot of wishes for the New Year, like every beginning of New Year. I hope my family will have good health. And for me, I want to try out more positions in my job, and earn more money so I can buy an apartement in Beijing."
There are many young people working in big cities away from home, like Yuan. As more opportunities arise, they try their best to get up the career ladder.
