Huang says he has viewed the big-screen adventure several times, and studied both its plot and special effects. He expressed confidence he would be able to compensate for the limitations of puppetry with some new ideas and innovation.

Huang Junxiong, puppeteer, said, "For the puppet version of the story, we have to make new figurines and props. In designing the puppets we will use the likenesses of noted local actors. The aim is to make the show as entertaining as possible."

China's history of puppetry dates back more than 2-thousand years. The art form is regarded as the origin of Chinese Opera. Chinese puppetry is renowned for its intricate designs and detailed story lines. Today's Chinese puppet shows are pulling a few strings to include modern stage effects.
