One of Beijing's oldest commercial districts has reopened for business after two years of redevelopment. Stores along Qianmen Street are ready to greet an influx of tourists during the upcoming National Day holiday.
Qianmen Street, in central Beijing, runs from north to south and is no more than 2 kilometers long. It has been a prosperous area for more than 600 years and is home to some of the capital's oldest shops. Many well-known stores, including the roast duck restaurant Quanjude, started their operations on Qianmen Street.
