The San Marino Pavilion?Tuesday donated a full-size replica of its Statue of Liberty to the Shanghai Expo Museum now under construction in the Puxi site.
The replica was shown at the pavilion during the Expo. The original statue stands in the square in front of San Marino's Public Palace or the Parliament. It was put there on September 30, 1867 and has become a national icon since.
The statue symbolizes the pursuit of freedom, peace and independence.
San Marino, sometimes called "the most serene republic," is a tiny landlocked country within Italy.
